Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi was a lawmaker and attorney from Nigeria who lived from 8 May 1944 to 17 March 2023. He served as the vice governor of Ekiti State from 2018 to 2022.

Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi Career

Bisi Egbeyemi was President of the Law Students Association at the University of Ife in the 1978-1979 session. He was appointed Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General in Ekiti State (2002-2003) and President of the Physical Education Students Association at the University of Lagos College of Education in Akoka Lagos (1974-1975). Between 2010 and 2014, he was the Director of Owena Motels in Ondo State and the Director of Odua Investment Company Limited.

He ran alongside Governor Kayode Fayemi in the 2017 Ekiti Governor election under the All Progressive Congress, and they won. Kayode Fayemi’s decision to name him as his Deputy was met with criticism, with many believing he lobbied for it. He, however, stated that his party chose him because they believe that if His name is mentioned in Ado Ekiti and in Ekiti as a whole, people will support Him.

On July 17, 2020, he debunked an impeachment rumour after a news outlet reported that the Governor was planning to impeach him. He described the rumour as “tissues of lies” and “wicked falsehood” against innocent people.

Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi Death

At the age of 79, Egbeyemi died in the early hours of Saturday morning (18th March 2023)at a popular Multisystem Hospital in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

Egbeyemi was born on May 8, 1944, in Ado-Ekiti.

Before entering politics, he worked as a barrister.

Between 1992 and 1993, he was Chairman of Ado Ekiti Local Government Area, and from 2018 to 2022, he was Deputy to Governor Kayode Fayemi.

The cause of his death was unknown at the time of this report, but a close ally who worked with him as one of his principal officers revealed that he died in a private hospital.

Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi Governor of Ekiti State’s Deputy

Kayode Fayemi chose Bisi Egbeyemi as his running mate for the APC governorship election in Ekiti State in 2018. Kayode Fayemi and Bisi Egbeyemi were declared the winners of the Ekiti State Governorship election on July 15, 2018.

They received 197,459 votes to defeat the PDP, which received 178,121 votes. On October 16, 2018, he was sworn in as the constable of Ekiti State in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
