Buhari’s aide apologizes on misleading information of police rescuing kidnapped ABU students

President Buhari’s aide on New Media, Bashir Ahmad has apologized after retweeting a misleading information of the police rescuing the three kidnapped Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) students.

Recall LIB reported that a relative of one of the students abducted by gunmen along Abuja-Kaduna road on Tuesday August 27, accused the Nigerian police of lying after it took credit for the release of the final year Law students.

Following the backlash that ensued and a subsequent verification of the claim of payment of ransom for the kidnapped final year Law students’ freedom, Bashir Ahmad was forced to delete his tweet and also issue an apology to Nigerians and the family of the ABU students.

“I have taken down this tweet. Relatives and one of the victims confirmed that there’s no police involvement in the process that led to their release. Got the info first from NAN, minutes later some newspapers carried it, too bad. Police was trying to take credit. I apologize for sharing it” he tweeted.
