Jonathan’s former aide discharged and acquitted of alleged N1.6bn fraud by court

Dr Waripamo Owei-Dudafa, an ex-aide of former President Goodluck Jonathan has been discharged and acquitted by a Federal High Court in Lagos after being arraigned over an alleged N1.6billion fraud charge.

In his ruling on the case, Justice Mohammed Idris said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) built their case on “suspicions” but that cannot take the place of “legal evidence” in court.

He also revealed in the 190-page judgement that the anti-graft agency failed to bring in important witnesses which include Goodluck Jonathan and former NSA Sambo Dasuki, whose testimony could have helped their case.

On claims that the bags Dudafa delivered to Jonathan contained dollars, Idris said the EFCC did not carry out proper investigation as there was no proof for that.

“How did the prosecution know that the bags contained dollars?” the judge wondered again.

Goodluck Jonathan’s ex-aide was subsequently discharged and acquitted by Justice Idris who presided over the case.
