After Nike Football revealed its latest selection of third kits for the 2020/21 season, Adidas has followed up with a new jersey to be worn by Manchester United in the upcoming season. The design references stripes from Manchester United’s history, which have appeared on various kits for over 100 years.
The kit’s aim, according to said press release, is “to provide a fresh update to tradition, while delivering a vibrant new print.”
In a magnificent bit of understatement, Adidas say “the result is surprising, unexpected and demonstrates a continued ambition to push the boundaries of shirt design.”
Additionally, Adidas has added its latest technical innovations to the kit, including technology to keep the wearer feeling cool, dry and confident. The replica versions of the shirt will feature a similar technology to help players feel comfortable in the kit.
While the players will wear white socks and shorts with the kits, fans can buy them with the same pattern as the shirt.
The kit is available to pre-order online from United’s club shop online, and will be in stores from 15 September.
